Understanding Time to Kill
Time to Kill (TTK) measures how long it takes a weapon to eliminate a target from the moment the first bullet connects. It factors in the weapon's fire rate and how many shots are needed at a given distance and hitbox. One-shot kill weapons like the AWP have a TTK of 0ms since only one bullet is needed.
TTK is calculated as: (Shots to Kill - 1) × (60 / RPM) × 1000. The first shot is instant, and each subsequent shot adds time based on the rate of fire.
High fire rate weapons like the Negev (800 RPM) or P90 (857 RPM) can have surprisingly fast TTK even with lower damage because bullets arrive so quickly. Conversely, high-damage weapons like the Desert Eagle (267 RPM) have slow TTK if the first shot does not kill.
FAQ
What is TTK in CS2?
TTK (Time to Kill) is the time it takes from the first bullet hitting to the target dying. It depends on the weapon fire rate and how many shots are needed to kill. A weapon that kills in 1 shot has 0ms TTK. A weapon firing at 600 RPM that needs 4 chest shots has a TTK of 300ms.
Which CS2 weapon has the fastest TTK?
At point blank against armor, the AWP and Desert Eagle both have 0ms TTK with a headshot. For body shots, the Negev and P90 have among the fastest TTK due to their extremely high fire rates, despite lower per-bullet damage.
How is TTK calculated?
TTK = (Shots to Kill - 1) × (60 / RPM) × 1000ms. The first shot is instant (0ms), and each subsequent shot takes time based on the fire rate. For example, 3 shots at 600 RPM: (3-1) × (60/600) × 1000 = 200ms.
